Moyamensing Avenue (Remastered)

about

A couple of years ago I had the great pleasure of recording one of my original tunes with three incredible musicians. John Faye laid down the perfect drum track, while John Short III ("Shorty") provided some super-tasty bass and lead guitar lines. The amazing Cliff Hillis oversaw the whole thing in his home studio, the Hacienda, and then did an amazing job of mixing and mastering the resulting tracks.

The only problematic part was my lead vocal track. I was still learning how to sing and I night never quite nailed the phrasing and enunciation that I wanted for the lyrics, despite numerous takes and some great coaching from the other three musicians.

So today I'm releasing "Moyamensing Avenue (Redux)," as it were: A new version of the song with all of the original instrumental tracks but with a new and improved vocal performance, along with some sweet backing vocals by John Faye. It's also been re-mixed and mastered to perfection by Cliff Hillis.

lyrics

Moyamensing Avenue (Mack Hooligan)

Think I'll take a little stroll down
Moyamensing Avenue
Think I'll take a walk around
The old neighborhood

Remember the times you and I once had
Wondering why
It all went so bad

While I'm missing you
On Moyamensing Avenue
How I'm missing you... right now
On Moyamensing Avenue

We used to wake up feeling so in love
Arm in arm and intertwined
We'd spend the mornings just talking
Drinking coffee and killing time

And sometimes we'd get back into bed
And make love some more

While I'm missing you
On Moyamensing Avenue
How I'm missing you... right now
On Moyamensing Avenue

But then there was that one stupid thing I said
That you just could not forget
I found your note on our empty bed
And it broke me up inside when you said:

"There are some things I can't abide”
"There are some things I can't abide”
"There are some things I can't abide”
"There are some things I just can't abide”

While I'm missing you
On Moyamensing Avenue
How I'm missing you... right now
On Moyamensing Avenue

about

Mack Hooligan media, Pennsylvania

Mack's brand of musical hooliganism is a mix of rough-and-tumble roots rock, New Mex/Tex alt country (think Ray Wylie Hubbard meets Uncle Tupelo), and more traditional singer-songwriter balladry.
